Frequent Asked Questions

Why should I go to therapy?

Sometimes in life, we experience hardships where friends, family, and community are simply not enough to get us through. Therapy can enhance the support you receive from these groups and help you navigate life with intentionality. Therapy can help you strategically process your anxieties, mood changes, isolation, and so much more. I tell clients to give therapy at least three sessions before they call it quits!

What is one thing that you want clients to know?

I’m devoted to serving individuals from historically excluded communities, including those who identify as queer, as a person of color, or as a person at the intersection of those identities.

What can clients expect from you during sessions?

My first goal is to create a space where you are heard and validated in your experiences and emotions. You can expect that I will challenge you to grow but also give you unconditional positive regard and compassion.

How should I prepare for my first therapy session?

In order to get the most out of this journey, it’s best to come open-minded and engage as much as you see fit. If you’d like to take notes or ask specific questions, I welcome them. During the initial intake session, we will spend time going through policies and procedures so that you are aware of your rights as a client. We’ll discuss your strengths, areas of concern, family dynamics, medical history, goals, and what you hope to gain from this experience.
